Fifth Annual MACT River Jam a “Rockin Success”

With Texas rock legend, John Nitzinger, as the headliner, the 5th  annual River Jam, sponsored by the Music Association of Central Texas (MACT) and benefiting Caritas of Waco was a great success both as fantastic entertainment and an important fundraising event for Caritas.  About 200 people attended the September 16th event held at MCC’s Bosque River Stage.  With Daddy T, a.k.a. Tony Rogers, as Master of Ceremonies, the River Jam featured and showcased local talent and bands including The Journey Band, Touch of Class, The NHB, Dean Pankonien, Sandusky, Jonquil, David Zychek, and the Sonny Mac Blues Band.

On Monday evening, September 18th, at its regular monthly gathering, the MACT presented Caritas with a check for $2500.00.  As part of the admission price, attendees brought canned food, so Caritas was also gifted with many pounds of food to distribute to its clients who are in need.  Much of the fundraising success of this event is due to the many sponsors, including Beatnix Coffeehouse, Fox 44 (KWKT-Waco), Swift Outdoor Advertising, Waco Jewelers, American Classifieds, Martin Audiology, Budweiser-True Music, Hourglass, John McAnally, P.C. and many others.  Special thanks to Johnnie Bradshaw and the MACT for putting in lots of hours to make this event a success and for doing all they do to support music and musicians in the Central Texas area.  And thanks to so many others who did make this such a “rockin” success.
