2010 United Way Grant

The United Way of Waco/McLennan County has announced that Caritas of Waco will receive an allocation of $50,400 in 2010, up from $44,500 in 2009. These funds will be used to secure food from Capital Area food Ban (CAFB) in Austin, as well as provide for the emergency purchase of food from other sources, such as wholesale grocery firms or other food brokers. 

All food received from CAFB has been donated at a national or local level, but because there are costs related to transportation, storage and distribution of food, a shared maintenance fee of $.18/lb. is charged for food received from CAFB.  Currently about 20%-25% of all food distributed to clients is received from CAFB.  Thanks to all of you who contributed to the United Way of Waco/McLennan County
