FRESH PRODUCE BENEFITS CARITAS CLIENTS
Caritas is continuing its initiative to provide clients with fresh vegetables and fruits. This effort has been supported by grants from the Beaumont Foundation and the Wal-Mart Corporation that are used to secure nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables for families receiving food assistance from Caritas.
The agency has worked with several organizations such as Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Heart of Texas Community Health Center, Waco McLennan County Public Health District, and Heart
of Texas Urban Gardening Coalition to assist in providing nutrition and related education to clients. These efforts will be further enhanced with the completion of renovation to the Caritas facility
that will include a classroom and audio-visual capabilities in the new waiting room. |

Caritas is continuing a new initiative to help educate its clients regarding the importance of a nutritional diet that includes fresh vegetables and fruits.
This effort comes in conjunction with a $50,000 grant from the Beaumont Foundation that is used to provide nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables for families receiving food assistance from Caritas.
